Petra Azienda Agricola

The Moretti family, famous throughout the world for the production of their Bellavista sparkling wines in Franciacorta, has also been running a large-scale project since 1997: Azienda Agricola Petra, a winery which has made modernity its particular trademark.

The winery's spectacular building, on the outskirts of the small town of Suvereto, was designed by Mario Botta and has attracted countless visitors, eager to admire the pioneering work of the great architect and at the same time enjoy the idyllic natural surroundings... and, of course, to delight in the wines, made by means of organic viticulture in order to reveal the entire essence of their situation.

As anyone who knows their work with the Bellavista sparkling wines might expect, the Moretti family have left no loose ends untied at Petra either: the vineyards are planted on the hills of the Val di Cornia, a terroir that is particularly rich in iron and dedicated to the production of great wines; parcel division has been carefully studied by Professor Attilio Scienza; and for defining the style of their wines, Francesca Moretti has been able to count upon the expert advice of the renowned oenologist Beppe Caviola.
