Produttori del Barbaresco

The cooperative or 'Cantina Sociale' Produttori del Barbaresco was founded in 1894 by Domizio Cavazza, regarded as the father of Barbaresco and responsible for having introduced new and innovative techniques for training vines and winemaking too. Cavazza was also the director of the Regia Scuola Enologica di Alba, one of Italy's first schools of oenology.

After a wretched time due to devastating wars, the cooperative came back to full force in 1958: its cooperative model became an example for modern times, with a membership of more than 50 vinegrowers cultivating their own vineyards today, totalling around 100 hectares in the Barbaresco DOGC (1/6 of the denomination's total production!), and enjoying an enviable reputation all over the world, both for its generic Barbaresco and for any of its excellent single estate wines.
