Vin de Paille
Vin de Paille means 'Straw wine' in French and is the generic name given to Raisin wines in France. The ones from Jura are the most famous, but they can also be found in other appellations. This wine is made from late harvested grapes which are left to dehydrate on straw mats (hence its name), or hung up in well-ventilated attics or places indoors. It’s therefore a sweet wine, which shouldn’t be confused with another famous Jura wine, a totally dry one that’s matured under a layer of yeast, in the Fino sherry style: Vin Jaune or Yellow wine.
